Montparnasse & Denfert - 14th Arrondissement

The 14th Arrondissement of Paris stretches from Montparnasse and Denfert-Rochereau into residential southern Paris, combining artistic and literary history, market streets, cafés, restaurants, parks and neighbourhood life. The northern edge forms part of the wider Montparnasse district, which continues across the arrondissement boundary into the 15th.

Begin around Gare Montparnasse, which sits across the border of the 14th and 15th arrondissements, then explore the historic Montparnasse streets associated with generations of artists, writers and café culture. Continue towards Rue Daguerre for food shops, market stalls, restaurants and everyday neighbourhood shopping.

Around Place Denfert-Rochereau, visit the Paris Catacombs before exploring the surrounding residential streets. Further south, the arrondissement becomes greener around Parc Montsouris and Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, while neighbourhoods around Pernety and Plaisance reveal a more local side of southern Paris.

Explore the 14th Arrondissement with TLC Paris to discover Montparnasse history, markets, food, cafés, restaurants, parks and neighbourhood streets beyond the traditional tourist routes.
