Rive Droite – Arrondissements

Rive Droite, the Right Bank of Paris, is the part of the city north of the Seine, encompassing the 1st to 4th and 8th to 20th arrondissements. It includes many of Paris’s most famous landmarks and neighbourhoods, but there is no single Right Bank experience: the atmosphere changes dramatically from the historic centre and luxury districts of western Paris to Montmartre, the canals and the neighbourhoods of the east.

Begin around the Louvre, Palais Royal and Tuileries for monumental central Paris, explore the Marais for historic streets, fashion, food and culture, or continue west towards Opéra, Place Vendôme, the Champs-Élysées and the Golden Triangle for department stores, grand boulevards, palace hotels and luxury shopping.

Further north, Montmartre brings hilltop streets, Sacré-Cœur, cafés and sweeping views, while Batignolles offers markets and a more residential neighbourhood atmosphere. East Paris changes character again around Canal Saint-Martin, Bastille, Belleville, Ménilmontant and La Villette, with restaurants, nightlife, multicultural food, street art, canals, parks and contemporary cultural venues.

Explore the Right Bank of Paris with TLC Paris arrondissement by arrondissement, or follow its streets, avenues and boulevards to discover where to shop, eat, stay and explore — from internationally known Paris landmarks to neighbourhood addresses worth knowing nearby.
