Gabrielle Chanel entered the world of High Jewellery in 1932 with Bijoux de Diamants, a collection that placed diamonds directly against the body and explored stars, comets, ribbons and other motifs with unusual freedom.

CHANEL approaches women’s watches through both jewellery design and watchmaking, with several collections deliberately blurring the boundary between bracelet and timepiece.

CHANEL’s watch collection is not restricted to women. The Maison explicitly presents its Horlogerie universe for women and men.
For a more masculine direction, two important families are:
- J12 – particularly the larger ceramic models, Manufacture movements and technically focused interpretations
- MONSIEUR de CHANEL – created around CHANEL’s own watchmaking movements and a more distinctly masculine aesthetic

High Horology & CHANEL Manufacture
CHANEL watches are designed by the Watch Creation Studio and brought to life at the Maison’s Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
High Horology pushes the collections beyond straightforward timekeeping through Manufacture calibres, skeleton movements, precious stones, artistic crafts and mechanical complications.

Good to Know – Choosing Jewellery or a Watch
- For Fine Jewellery, try different widths and proportions rather than choosing from photographs alone. COCO CRUSH, for example, changes considerably depending on width, metal and whether pieces are stacked.
- With rings and bracelets, ask the adviser to check sizing carefully before purchase, particularly when you intend to layer several pieces.
- For watches, compare case size on the wrist rather than deciding automatically between a “women’s” or “men’s” model.
- J12 works especially well for this because different case sizes and configurations can create very different effects.
